Areola pigment loss is a rare disorder in which a part of the pigmentation on the skin starts to change.
If left untreated, it can lead to skin problems, including the loss of pigment in the upper eyelids.
The condition, called areola pigmentation loss, occurs when a part in the skin changes from a white to a grey pigment, leading to a loss of the pigment’s effectiveness in the eye.
It’s the first known disease of its kind, and it’s usually seen in children.
